A property (P) of locally convex spaces is said to be a three-space property if, given and locally convex space \(E\) with closed subspace \(F\) such that \(F\) and \(E/F\) have property (P), then \(E\) itself also has the property (P). It was proved by Roelcke and S. Dierolf in 1981 that barrelledness is a three-space property. A locally convex space \(E\) is called semi-Baire-like if every closed absorbing sequence in \(E\) contains a barrell. This property is the algebraic part of the concept of a Baire-like space: a space \(E\) is called Baire-like if it is barrelled and semi-Baire-like. Pérez Carreras and the reviewer proved in 1982 that being Baire-like is a three-space property. Two interesting examples given in this note show that being semi-Baire-like is not a three-space property.
