\textit{W. Roelcke} and \textit{S. Dierolf} [Collect. Math. 32, 13-35 (1981; Zbl 0489.46002)] proved that barrelledness is a three-space property, that is, if \(F\) is a closed subspace of a Hausdorff locally convex space, \(E\) and both \(F\) and the quotient space \(E/F\) are barrelled, then \(E\) also is barrelled. In the present paper, the authors study the three-space problem for following fourteen ``weak barrelledness'' concepts: (1) Baire-likeness, (2) quasi-Baireness, (3) barrelledness, (4) \(\aleph_0\)-barrelledness, (5) \(\ell^\infty\)-barrelledness, (6) non-\(S_\sigma\)-ness, (7) property \((L)\), (8) \(c_0\)-barrelledness, (9) \(C\)-barrelledness, (10) property \((C)\), (11) property \((S)\), (12) dual local completeness, (13) primitivity, (14) inductivity. Choosing \(a\), \(b\) and \(c\) from these properties, they consider the following more general problem: If \(F\) has property \(a\) and \(E/F\) has property \(b\), does \(E\) have property \(c\)? The paper answers all \(14^3= 2744\) questions of this form. For properties (1)--(7) the three-space problem has a positive solution, for (8)--(14) the solution is negative.
