A wide literature is devoted to systems theory applications to environmental problems. Among these problems are those of desertification, vegetation dynamics, pollution, etc. Here, a new approach is explored for describing the evolution of such phenomena. More precisely, a problem characterized by space expansion, is described by so-called spreadability. The authors present an extended notion of spreadability, \(A\)-spreadability (or spreadability in measure). For characterizing \(A\)-spreadability dynamical systems, they introduce the notion of a family of mappings adapted to the evolution of a given system in order to be able to track the geometry of the domains. The characterization of these families leads to a nonlinear equation. They also introduce the notion of \(A\)-spray control, the control which makes a system \(A\)-spreadable, and characterize it in the case of linear systems.
