The author considers the problem of the joint motion of two layers of compressible viscous fluids between two horizontal plates with the upper one moving irrotationally at a constant distance from the lower one, which is fixed. He proves that the solution of this problem converges, as the shear viscosity of the lower fluid tends to zero, to the weak solution of a certain limit problem. The main tool is the switch between Lagrangian and Eulerian coordinates.
