The author investigates the \((C,1)\) summability of expansions of functions in Hardy spaces \(H^\varepsilon\) over a \(p\)-adic field. He proves the \(\varepsilon\)-quasilocality of the maximal Cesàro operator \(\sigma_*\) by a fine analysis of the behavior of the Dirichlet kernel. Thus, \(\sigma_*\) maps \(H^\varepsilon\) boundedly into \(L^\varepsilon\) for \(1/2< \varepsilon\leq 1\), and it follows by interpolation that \(\sigma_*\) maps the Hardy-Lorentz space \(H^{\varepsilon, q}\) boundedly into the Lorentz space \(L^{\varepsilon, q}\) for \(1/2< \varepsilon\leq 1\) and \(0< q\leq\infty\). As a corollary, one obtains that \(\sigma_*\) is of weak type \((1,1)\), and hence the conclusion of the almost everywhere convergence of \(\sigma_nf\) for functions \(f\) in \(L^1\).
