Mechanical drive systems which can be described by lumped mass/inertia matrix models with little natural damping, a single input and multiple outputs are considered. A new derivation leading to the main control algorithm, enabling the existing and desired natural frequencies to be employed directly in the feedback gain calculation, is presented. A goal here is position regulation and damping by feedback means is also introduced. Only proportional and tachogenerator feedback is required in this application.
