The author claims to have discovered a novel approach to the application of Finsler geometry to unified field theory starting with something he calls a geodesic connection. He seems to be unaware that this connection function is just a spray which can be simply related to various well-known Finsler connections such as those of Douglas, Barthel, or Berwald. An unfortunate form of the spray function is advocated which contains a term proportional to the tangent vector. This sort of nonlinear parametrization would imply that a velocity adds directly to the acceleration, a concept difficult to justify physically. The theory is applied with inconclusive results to the Randers metric.
