General solutions of the Pexider equation \[ f(xy)+ g(x+y)= h(xy+x)+ k(y) \] for \(f,g,h,k: \mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}\) and all \(x,y\in\mathbb{R}\) respectively for \(f,g,h,k:\mathbb{R}_+ \to\mathbb{R}\) and all \(x,y\in \mathbb{R}_+\) are given. The paper is dedicated to the 75th birthday of Professor János Aczél.
