      The authors investigate semi-active control for a wide class of systems with scalar nonlinear semi-active actuator dynamics. They consider the problem of designing control laws that guarantee stability and present a method for building a ``quick descent'' controller generated from quadratic Lyapunov functions, requiring the semi-active actuator to satisfy two general conditions. In particular, the authors show that this wide class of systems covers two known nonlinear actuator models. Finally, numerical simulations for Lyapunov control laws are presented.
