Given a linear continuous-time MIMO system \(\dot x= Ax+ Bu\), \(y= Cx\), \(u\in\mathbb{R}^m\), \(x\in\mathbb{R}^n\), \(y\in \mathbb{R}^p\), with \(\text{rank }B= m\), \(\text{rank }C= p\) and \((A,B)\) controllable, necessary and sufficient conditions are formulated for the existence of a state-output derivative feedback \(u= v+ Kx- F\dot y\). A procedure is developed for the computation of the gain matrices \(K\), \(F\), such that the closed-loop polynomial becomes equal to a desired one. This assignment procedure is illustrated by an example.
