Starting from one of the non-twisted Kac-Moody algebras \(X_r^{(1)}\) and chosen level \(k\) the Kac-Petersen \(S\)-matrix can be defined. This \(S\)-matrix determines the fusing ring \(R(X_{r,k})\). The goal of this article is to determine the automorphism of the fusion rings (i.e. the fusion symmetry). First some of the necessary back-ground is reviewed. It is shown that fusion symmetries determine symmetries of the \(S\)-matrices (\(S\)-symmetry) and vice-versa. Simple currents determine an \(S\)-symmetry and hence a fusion symmetry. The author calls these automorphisms simple-current-automorphisms. All other automorphisms are called exceptional. As another construction, Galois-fusion-symmetries are discussed. For each of the affine algebras \(X_r^{(1)}\) (for \(X_r\) simple) a complete list of symmetries is given. It is shown that for \(X_r^{(1)}\) and sufficiently high level \(k\) the fusion symmetries consists entirely of simple-current-automorphisms and conjugations. In the proof of the completeness of the list, the \(q\)-dimension, its relation to the \(S\)-matrix, and the symmetry group of the extended Dynkin diagram of \(X_r^{(1)}\) is used. For some of the proofs, the author refers to \textit{T. Gannon, Ph. Ruelle} and \textit{M. A. Walton} [Commun. Math. Phys. 179, 121--156 (1996; Zbl 0897.17019)]. The article closes with a theorem giving the complete list of fusion ring isomorphisms \(R(X_{r,k})\cong R(Y_{s,m})\) if \(X_{r,k}\neq Y_{s,m}\) (\(X_r\) and \(Y_s\) simple). In most cases they are not isomorphic.
