\(E(3,6)\) is an exceptional Lie superalgebra that is one of the infinite-dimensional simple linearly compact Lie superalgebras classified by the first author [Adv. Math. 139, 1-55 (1998; Zbl 0929.17026)]. It is deemed to be of special interest because it has \(\mathfrak g_0= sl(3) \times sl(2)\times gl(1)\) as the zero degree component of its consistent \(\mathbb Z\)-grading. In the article under review the authors study continuous irreducible representations of \(E(3,6)\). The problem reduces to the description of the so-called degenerate modules. It is shown that the \(\mathfrak g_0\)-modules from which these modules are induced have \(sl (3)\)-highest weight \((p,q)\) with \(pq = 0\). This will be used in a subsequent paper to complete the classification, which consists of four series of representations.
