The author provides several conditions (expressed in terms of the second fundamental form and mean, scalar and sectional curvatures) for a compact space-like submanifold \(M\) with flat normal bundle of the de Sitter space of positive curvature which imply either pseudo- or total umbilicity of \(M\). \{Enclosed corrections are provided by Hua-Dong Pang and Sen-Lin Xu\}.
