The authors note that while finite arithmetic and geometric progressions appear in Egyptian problem texts and even the sequence of ratios of Fibonacci numbers exhibits easily discernible convergence properties in Egyptian unit fractions, there is no evidence at all that the series and the golden section did ever appear in Egyptian mathematics or architecture as proposed in a number of recent or not so recent papers.
