Let \(A\) be a finite dimensional \(K\)-algebra over a fixed algebraically closed field \(K\), and for a nonnegative integer \(d\) let mod\((A,d)\) be the affine scheme of \(d\)-dimensional \(A\)-modules. In [Adv. Math. 343, 624--639 (2019; Zbl 1470.16023)] the authors introduced the notion of geometrically irreducible algebras, that is, the algebras such that for each \(d\) the connected components of mod\((A,d)\) are irreducible. Let \(Q\) be a finite quiver. An arrow \(\alpha\) in \(Q\) is called a shortcut, if \(\alpha\) is not a loop and there is a path \(\alpha_1\cdots\alpha_k\) of length at least two connecting the same vertices as \(\alpha\), such that none of the arrows \(\alpha_i\), \(1\leq i\leq k\), is a loop. In the paper under review, the authors study the geometrically irreducible algebras with exactly two simple modules. They describe these algebras by using quivers with relations up to Morita equivalences (Theorem 1.1). Based on this result they prove that every minimal geometrically irreducible algebra without shortcuts in its Gabriel quiver has at most two simple modules (Theorem 1.2). Finally, let us mention that authors conjecture that every geometrically irreducible minimal algebra has at most two simple modules.
