The author investigates the representation type of the category \(\mathbf{fspr}(I,F_m)\) of filtered subprojective \(F_m\)-representations of a finite poset \(I\) with a unique maximal element, where \(F_m=K[t]/(t^m)\) for \(m\geq 1\) and an algebraically closed field \(K\). By a subprojective \(F_m\)-representation is meant a system \((U_i)_{i\in I}\) of finitely generated \(F_m\)-modules such that \(U_i\subseteq U_j\) whenever \(i\preceq j\) and \(U_*\) is a projective \(F_m\)-module for the maximal element \(*\) of \(I\). Criteria for the representation type of \(\mathbf{fspr}(I,F_m)\) are given in terms of \(I\) and \(m\). As a consequence, the representation type of the category \(\text{rep}_{\text{ft}}(I,F_m)\) of filtered representations of \(I\) is determined, where by a filtered representation of \(I\) we mean a system \((U_i)_{i\in I}\) of finitely generated \(F_m\)-modules such that \(U_i\subseteq U_j\) if \(i\preceq j\). This is obtained by using the restriction functor \(\text{res}\colon\mathbf{fspr}(I^+,F_m)\to\text{rep}_{\text{ft}}(I,F_m)\), where \(I^+=I\cup\{+\}\) is a poset enlargement of \(I\) by a unique maximal element \(+\). The latter problem is called a Birkhoff type problem, since it generalizes the problem investigated by \textit{G.~Birkhoff} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 38, 385-401 (1934; Zbl 0010.34304)].
