One considers a physical system which comprises a large number of masses sujected to mutual Coulomb interactions. The overall system is of course defined by its Hamiltonian and one focuses more especially on the significance of the minimizer of the system on the one hand, and the significance of the statistical mechanics of the system on the other hand. The mean-field limit is revisited in relation with theoretical physics. This is a short review paper.
