The authors analyse the asymptotic behavior of the following system of two coupled integro-differential equations modelling populations of healthy and cancer cells under chemotherapy \[ \frac{dn_1}{dt}(t,x)=(r_1(x)-d_1(x)I_1(t))n_1(t,x), \] \[ \frac{dn_2}{dt}(t,x)=(r_2(x)-d_2(x)I_2(t))n_2(t,x) \] where \(n_1,n_2\) are two competitively interacting populations of (healthy and cancer) cells, \[ I_1=a_{11}\rho_1+a_{12}\rho_2, I_2=a_{21}\rho_1+a_{22}\rho_2, \rho_i(t)=\int_0^1 n_i(t,x)dx, i=1,2. \] They study also an optimal control problem, by considering all possible infusion protocols and minimizing the number of cancer cells over a prescribed time frame.
