Given two polynomials, the resultant of them is another polynomial in their coefficients, which has value zero if and only if the polynomials have a common root. This is a an extensively studied notion in algebra. In particular, one can compute the number of the common roots of given polynomials by computing the order of the resultant. The authors provide a tropical analogue of this computation. Various explicit calculations with polynomials over the tropical semifield and their resultants are provided throughout the paper to verify tropical analogues of the classical results with resultants.
