In the paper under review, the authors identify a canonical orbifold substructure on a suborbifold \(\mathcal P\) of an orbifold \(\mathcal O\). This inherited substructure is canonical in the sense that it is imposed by some features in the definition of suborbifold. On the other hand, a flaw of this inheritance is the fact that if \(\mathcal Q\subset\mathcal P\subset\mathcal O\) and \(\mathcal P\) has the orbifold structure inherited from \(\mathcal O\), then the orbifold structure on \(\mathcal Q\) inherited from \(\mathcal P\) may not coincide with the one inherited from \(\mathcal O\) (a concrete example of this situation is given in the paper). However, it is proved that this inconvenience vanishes when one deals with embedded suborbifolds. Unlike the case of smooth manifolds (and submanifolds), a suborbifold of an orbifold need not be realizable as the image of an orbifold embedding. This was the subject of a previous paper by these authors [Algebr.\ Geom.\ Topol.\ 15, No.\ 5, 2789--2803 (2015; Zbl 1330.57039)], where they gave a sufficient and necessary condition for a suborbifold to be the image of an orbifold embedding.
