Let \(G\) be a connected simple linear algebraic group over the complex numbers \(\mathbb{C}\), and let \(B\) be a Borel subgrop of \(G\). The purpose of this paper is to consider the diagonal action of \(G\) on the projective variety \(X := G/B \times G/B \times G/B\) and the GIT quotients \(X//G\) given by triples of dominant characters. More precisely, first recall that the dominant \textit{regular} characters are those which are given as positive integral combinations of the fundamental dominant weights. Then for each triple \((\lambda, \mu, \nu)\) of dominant regular characters there is a \(G\)-equivariant line bundle \(\mathcal{L} = \mathcal{L}(\lambda,\mu,\nu)\) on \(X\). The line bundle \(\mathcal{L}\) is said to \textit{descend} to the GIT quotient \(\pi : X_{\text{ss}}(\mathcal{L}) \to X(\mathcal{L})//G\) if there exists a line bundle \(\hat{\mathcal{L}}\) on \(X(\mathcal{L})//G\) such that \[ \mathcal{L}|_{X_{\text{ss}}(\mathcal{L})} \simeq\pi^\ast\hat{\mathcal{L}}. \] The main results of the paper discuss when this descent does happen. Firstly, it is shown that if there is a descent for the line bundle \(\mathcal{L}(\lambda,\mu,\nu)\), then \(\lambda+\mu+\nu\) must lie the root lattice. Secondly, it is shown that if \(\lambda+\mu+\nu\) lies in a certain subset \(\Gamma\) of the root lattice (the intersection of all sublattices generated by positive roots and of finite index in the root lattice), then descent does occur. An example is given to show that the results are not best possible.
