The paper under review deals with the study of a two-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau problem on an arbitrary domain with a finite number of vanishingly small circular holes. The main result establishes that, for each hole, the degrees of minimizers of the Ginzburg-Landau problems in the class of \({\mathbb S}^1\)-valued and \({\mathbb C}\)-valued maps, respectively, are the same. The presence of two parameters that are separated on a logarithmic scale is the main difficulty of the analysis that is based on energy decomposition techniques. Additional complications arise in the analysis developed in this paper due to the fact that the radius of the holes is not fixed. In particular, because of the presence of another small parameter, the authors use a different ball construction method that incorporates both the Ginzburg-Landau parameter and the holes radius.
