The main statement of this paper can be summarized as follows: ``(\dots) (the authors) present a new residual-type a posteriori error analysis for the \(C^0\)-conforming virtual element method (\dots) for the discretization of second-order linear elliptic reaction-convection-diffusion problems (\dots)'' (page 858). They start with an introduction into the literature and go over to their elliptic problem and take a look at the variational form. After that the virtual element method itself is considered w.r.t. the polygonal and polyhedral partitions as well as the virtual element space. The section is closed by the discrete formulation and followed by the approximation properties. Based an this, they present an a posteriori error analysis, where they focus on a posteriori error bounds and lower bounds. Finally, numerical results are given, where in addition, an adaptive algorithm is applied. The paper closes with a conclusion and outlook.
