The authors extend the construction of the translation dual using the link between semifields of dimension \(n\) over their left nucleus and \(F_s\)-linear sets of rank \(en\) disjoint from the \((n-2)\)-secant variety \(\Omega(S_{n,n})\) of the Segre variety \(S_{n,n}\) of \(\mathrm{PG}(n^2-1,q)\), \(q=s^e.\) They prove that \(\Omega(S_{n,n})\) is covered by a family \({\mathbf T}\) of dimension \(n^2-n-1\) and that there is a polarity \(\perp\) of \(\mathrm{PG}(n^2-1,1)\) such that \({\mathbf T}= \{ X^\perp \;| \;X \in {\mathcal R} \}\) where \({\mathcal R}\) is one of the two systems of \(S_{n,n}\). This gives that if \(\Gamma\) is a linear set of rank \(en\) in a \((2n-1)\) dimensional subspace \(T\) of \(\mathrm{PG}(n^2-1,1)\) with \(\Gamma \cap T^\perp = \emptyset\) then one can construct an additional linear set of \(T\) of the same rank.
