Let \(T_D=D+i\mathbb R^2\subset\mathbb C^2\) be a tube domain with \(D\subset\{(x_1,x_2)\in\mathbb R^2: x_2>0\}\). We say that \(D\) satisfies (J-P)\(_{\text{aff}}\) (resp.~(J-P); resp.~(L)) if there does not exist a point \((a_1,a_2)\in D\) such that for every \(k\in\mathbb N\) we can find an affine function \(\gamma_k\) such that \((t,\gamma_k(t))\in D\) and \(|\gamma_k(t)-a_2|\leq1/k\), \(t\in[-k,k]\) (resp.~we can find a real analytic function \(\gamma_k\) on \([-k,k]\) such that \((t,\gamma_k(t))\in D\) and \(|\gamma_k(t)-a_2|\leq1/k\), \(t\in[-k,k]\); resp.~we can find a \(b_k\in\mathbb R\) such that \([-k,k]\times\{b_k\}\subset D\) and \(b_k\to a_2\)). It was known that \(T_D\) is Kobayashi hyperbolic \(\Longleftarrow\) (J-P) \(\Longrightarrow\) (J-P)\(_{\text{aff}}\) \(\Longrightarrow\) (L). The author constructs an example of a \(\mathcal C^\infty\)-smooth domain \(D\subset\{x_2>0\}\) with (J-P)\({}_{\text{aff}}\) such that the tube domain \(T_D=D+i\mathbb R^2\) is not hyperbolic.
