The paper deals with the convection-diffusion system \[ u_t-\sum_{i=1}^n\partial_{x_i}\left(\sum_{j=1}^n a_{ij}(t,x)u_{x_j}+a_i(t,x)u\right) +\sum_{i=1}^n c_i(t,x)u_{x_i}+a_0(t,x)u =f(t,x)\, (t,x)\in Q=G\times (0,T), \] where \(G\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) is a bounded domain, \(a_{ij},a_i\) and \(c_i\) are \(h\times h\) matrix functions and \(u\) is a \(h\)-vector function. The system is complemented with initial and boundary conditions \[ u\big|_{t=0}=u_0,\quad Bu\big|_{(0,T)\times \partial G}=0 \] with \[ Bu=\sigma \left( \sum_{i=1}^n {n_i}\left(\sum_{j=1}^n a_{ij}(t,x)u_{x_j}+n_i a_i(t,x)u\right) -b(t,x)u\right) +(E-\sigma)u, \] where \(n_i\) is the \(i\)-th coordinate of the unit outward normal to \(\partial G,\) \(\sigma\in C(\partial G)\) is a diagonal matrix whose entries are continuous functions taking the values \(0\) and \(1\) (and hence constant on each connected component), and \(E\) is the identity matrix. The author considers the generalized solvability of the system and studies the inverse problem of determining the right-hand side \(f(t,x)\) from integral overdetermination data. The solution is understood in the generalized sense, and distributions of certain classes are allowed as right-hand sides. Well-posedness of the inverse problem in Sobolev classes is shown under suitable conditions on data.
