Let \(CAP(\mathbb{R}^{m})\) be the \(C^{\ast}\)-algebra of almost periodic functions on \(\mathbb{R}^{m}\) and let \(\mathcal{A}\) be its \(C^{\ast}\)-subalgebra. Denote by \(H(\mathcal{A})\) the union of the sets of all the frequencies appearing in (formal) Fourier series of functions in \(\mathcal{A}\). The authors study the properties of \(\mathcal{A}\) in terms of \(H(\mathcal{A})\) which is automatically a group. If \(H(\mathcal{A})\) is finitely generated then \(\mathcal{A}\) is called quasi-periodic. Particularly, the maximal ideal space of any such \(\mathcal{A}\) is identified with the Pontryagin dual of \(H(\mathcal{A})\) (Theorem 2). In the next parts of the paper the authors focus their attention on quasi-periodic subalgebras and the problems on subalgebras invariant under the action of composition operators.
