This paper solves an initial boundary value problem of non-convex elastodynamics, in a domain \((0,1)\) occupied by an elastic bar with a non-convex stored-energy function and with fixed endpoints. The authors show the existence of general weak solutions to this rather classical problem [\textit{J. L. Ericksen}, J. Elasticity 5, 191--201 (1975; Zbl 0324.73067)] which has been treated by several authors before under different conditions. The main result obtained through a series of theorems and hypothesis displays the existence of infinitely many two-phase weak solutions for this problem. Some corollaries and discussions are also presented.
