These lecture notes originated in a workshop on Siegel modular forms at IISER, Pune, India from August 8 to 18, 2017. In the first six chapters of the present book, the author presents the classical approach to Siegel modular forms as holomorphic functions on the Siegel upper half space. Along the way, several open problems and conjectures are formulated. Chapter 7 gives the representation theoretic approach via the local representation theory of \(\mathrm{GSP}_4({\mathbb Q}_p)\); the remaining chapters are devoted to research problems: Bessel models, analytic and arithmetic properties of the \(L\)-functions for \(\mathrm{GSP}_4({\mathbb Q}_p) \times\mathrm{GL}_2\), and integral representations of the standard \(L\)-function. The appendix recalls classical results on classical modular forms, \(p\)-adic numbers and adeles, the representation theory of \(\mathrm{GL}_2\), and gives solutions of most exercises throughout the book. This well-written book should be accessible to graduate students familiar with classical modular forms.
