After having found a seemingly lost manuscript of the \textit{artificium} by Jost Bürgi, several authors started an analysis of the method described by Bürgi to calculate sines, see [\textit{M. Folkerts} et al., Hist. Math. 43, No. 2, 133--147 (2016; Zbl 1343.01011); \textit{D. Launert}, Mitt. Dtsch. Math.-Ver. 24, No. 2, 89--94 (2016; Zbl 1417.01007); \textit{J. Waldvogel}, Elem. Math. 71, No. 3, 89--99 (2016; Zbl 1378.01005)]. The authors of the paper under review now point out that there may have been a possible transfer of knowledge between Bürgi and India's Kerala School of mathematical astronomy. They see a strong evidence for such transfer but also remark that there is no conclusive proof of transmission.
