Let $R$ be a commutative noetherian local ring. An $R$-module $M$ satisfies the Auslander condition (AC) if there exists an integer $d$ such that $\mathrm{Ext}^{>d}_R (M, N) = 0$ for all $R$-modules $N$ with $\mathrm{Ext}^{\gg 0}_R (M, N) = 0$. The ring $R$ is an AC ring if every $R$-module satisfies (AC). \textit{C. Huneke} and \textit{D. A. Jorgensen} [Math. Scand. 93, No. 2, 161--184 (2003; Zbl 1062.13005)] defined the notion of AB rings as Gorenstein AC rings. \par In this paper, the author defines a homological dimension related to AB rings, and then characterise these rings with the mentioned homological dimension.
