Let \(K\) be a simplicial complex on a vertex set \([m] := \{1, \ldots, m\}\). Let \({\Bbbk}[K] \cong {\Bbbk} [v_1, \ldots, v_m] / (v_{i_1} \cdots v_{i_k}: {i_1, \ldots, i_k } \not \in K)\) denote the Stanley-Reisner ring of \(K\) over a commutative ring \({\Bbbk}\). The simplicial complex \(K\) is Golod over \({\Bbbk}\) if all products and (higher) Massey products in \(\mathrm{Tor}^{\star}_{{\Bbbk} [v_1, \ldots, v_m]}({\Bbbk}[K], {\Bbbk})\) are trivial where the ring structure is introduced from the Koszul resolution of \({\Bbbk}\) over \({\Bbbk} [v_1, \ldots, v_m]\). Let \({\mathcal Z}_K\) denote the moment-angle complex of \(K\). For a surface triangulation \(K,\) the authors give a characterization of of Golodness in terms of the fat wedge filtration of \({\mathbb R}_{{\mathcal Z}_K}\) (Theorem 1.4). As a consequence they give a positive answer to a question raised by \textit{A. Berglund} in [``Homotopy invariants of Davis-Januszkiewicz spaces and moment-angle complexes'', preprint, \url{http://www.math.ku.dk/~alexb/hominv.pdf}] (see Theorem 1.7): \textbf{Question}: Is there a simplicial complex which is Golod over \({\mathbb Q}\) but not Golod over \({\mathbb Z} /p\)?
