The main concern of the author of this study is the coupling of the fully dynamic incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, for the free fluid, with the Biot system, for the poroelastic structure completely saturated with fluid. Unlike previous studies, this problem problem can be considered as a nonlinear version of the linear cases already known. It is constructed a weak formulation of the coupled problem defining the interaction between a free fluid and a poroelastic structure. In main theorems of the study, the author proven the existence and uniqueness, local-in-time, of solution of the coupled problem under small data assumption. Furthermore, if the fluid is represented by the linear Stokes equations rather than the Navier-Stokes equations, this small data assumption is not needed and the result can also be global. It is considered that the boundaries and the interface between the fluid and the poroelastic material are fixed. It should be underlined that the proof proceeds by constructing a semi-discrete Galerkin approximations, obtaining the necessary a priori estimates, and passing to the limit.
