The authors introduce the Samuel realcompactification of a metric space \((X, d)\). This is in fact the smallest realcompactification of \((X, d)\) with the property that each uniformly continuous real-valued map can be extended to it. The article contains several results on the link between this newly introduced realcompactification and the Lipschitz realcompactification. Moreover, various characterizations of Samual realcompactness are given.
