Let a discrete group and a unitary representation on a Hilbert space \(\mathcal H\) are given. The authors establish that the concepts of operator bracket map and Gramian coincide on a dense set of \(\mathcal H\). Basically, they show that the operator bracket map for any discrete group coincides with the Gramian, and for abelian groups, the operator bracket map and the bracket map are related by Pontryagin duality. Also, they obtain all known bracket characterizations of Riesz and frame sequences for principal invariant subspaces.
