By means of moving plane techniques, the authors study symmetry and monotonicity properties of the singular solutions to the problem \[ \begin{cases} -\Delta u=f(x,u) & \text{ in } \Omega\setminus\Gamma,\\ u>0 & \text{ in } \Omega\setminus\Gamma,\\ u=0 & \text{ on } \partial\Omega. \end{cases} \] Here \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) is a bounded and smooth domain and \(f\) is uniformly locally Lipschitz continuous with respect to \(u\) away from the singular set \(\Gamma\subset \Omega.\)
