Let \((G,K)\) be a compact Gelfand pair and let \(L\) be a locally compact group. In this paper, the authors characterize the class \(\mathcal P_K^\sharp(G,L)\) of continuous positive definite functions \(f:G\times L\to \mathbb{C}\) which are bi-invariant in the \(G\)-variable with respect to \(K\). For a compact abelian group \(G\) considered as a Gelfand pair \((G,K)\) with \(K=\{e_G\}\), they present a characterization of \(\mathcal P(G\times L)\) in terms of Fourier expansions on the dual group \(\widehat{G}\). They also demonstrate the cases of the Gelfand pairs \((O(d+1),O(d))\) and \((U(q),U(q-1))\). They indeed generalize some results of the first and third author [Constr. Approx. 45, No. 2, 217--241 (2017; Zbl 1362.43004)] and \textit{J. C. Guella} and \textit{V. A.
