Minimal hypersurfaces in nearly \(G_2\) manifolds (Q1757076)

A hypersurface in a nearly \(G_2\) manifold inherits the geometric setting from the ambiant space. Within this setting, the author studies some properties of the induced geometric structures. For example, a hypersurface is nearly Kähler (with the almost complex structure induced by the ambient space) if and only if it is totally umbilic. By studying compact minimal hypersurfaces of constant scalar curvature in \(S^7\), the author obtains a restriction on the eigenvalues of the Laplace operator.
