Summary: By means of a lower and supper solutions method, we prove the existence and non-existence of ground state solutions for quasilinear elliptic equations with a convection term, extending previous results of \textit{J. V. Goncalves} and \textit{F. K. Silva} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 72, No. 2, A, 904--915 (2010; Zbl 1180.35240)].
