    The authors deal with a functional equation, \(f(x + f(x)y) = f(x)f(y)\), which is called the Golab-Schinzel functional equation. They prove the superstability of that equation as follows: Theorem 1. Let \(K\) be a subfield of \(\mathbb C\) and let \(X\) be a vector space over \(K\). Assume that a function \(f : X \to K\) satisfies \[ | f(x + f(x)y) - f(x)f(y) | \leq \varepsilon \text{ for all } x, y \in X. \] If \({\lim_{t \to 0} f(tx)}\) exists (not necessarily finite) for any \(x \in X \setminus f^{-1}\{ 0 \}\), then either \[ | f(x) | \leq \frac{1 + \sqrt{1+4\varepsilon}}{2}, \text{ for all } x \in X, \] or \[ f(x + f(x)y) = f(x)f(y) \text{ for all } x, y \in X. \] Here, it may be remarked that the substantial idea for the proof of Theorem 1 above is analogous to that of a paper by \textit{P. Găvrută} [in: Stability of mappings of Hyers-Ulam type, 93--98 (1994; Zbl 0844.39007)]. The Hyers-Ulam stability problem for the Gołąb-Schinzel functional equation is still open.
