Let \(\Lambda =\{\lambda_n \}\) be a sequence of complex numbers and \(E(\Lambda )=\{ e^{i\lambda_nt} \}.\) The system \(E(\Lambda )\) is closed if there is no nontrivial function \(f\in L^2(a,b)\) orthogonal to all functions in \(E(\Lambda ).\) A closed system that remains closed if \(r\geq 0\) of its terms are removed, but fails to be closed after removing \(r+1\) terms, is said to have the excess \(r=r(\Lambda ).\) In this paper some results of \textit{A. Nakamura} [Hokkaido Math. J. 29, No. 2, 303--313 (2000; Zbl 1003.42016)] are extended, in particular, to calculate the excesses of some systems of complex exponentials.
