The author considers the unboundedness of solutions for the asymmetric oscillator \[ (\varphi_p(x'))'+(p-1)[\alpha\varphi_p(x^+)-\beta\varphi_p(x^-)]=f(x, x', t), \] where \(\varphi_p(u)=| u| ^{p-2}u\), \(p>1\), \(\alpha\neq \beta\), \(\alpha\) and \(\beta\) are positive constants such that \(\alpha^{-\frac{1}{p}}+\beta^{-\frac{1}{p}}=\frac{2}{\omega}\) with \(\omega=\frac{n}{m}\), \(m, n\in \mathbb{N}\), \(f(x, x', t)\) is bounded and \(2\pi p\) periodic in \(t\). It is proved that a class of planar mappings has unbounded motions. On the basis of this conclusion, it is further proved that the Poincaré mapping of the given equation has unbounded motions. Consequently, the given equation has unbounded solutions.
