The author considers a Dirichlet problem for a nonlinear parabolic-elliptic partial differential equation whose coefficients depend on the gradient of the true solution. This problem describes a quasistationary magnetic field in a bounded two-dimensional domain with a piecewise curved boundary. The standard linear finite elements are used for the space discretization, whereas the time discretization is done by means of a special implicit-explicit method. This yields a linear numerical scheme of this nonlinear problem, the corresponding form of which is supposed to be strongly monotone and Lipschitz continuous. Under these assumptions the author proves the convergence of the proposed method in the \(L_2\)-norm.
