Parallel connections and coloured Tutte polynomials (Q1772425)

Recursive computations are used by the author to give formulas for the Tutte polynomials of parallel and series connections of weighted matroids, generalizing and unifying formulas of \textit{J. G. Oxley} and \textit{D. J. A. Welsh} [Discrete Math. 109, 185--192 (1992; Zbl 0780.05011)], as well as \textit{B. Bollobás} and \textit{O. Riordan} [Comb. Probab. Comput. 8, 45--93 (1999; Zbl 0926.05017)]. As a corollary to the main result formulas for the tension and flow polynomials as in \textit{D. R. Woodall} [Discrete Math. 247, 201--213 (2002; Zbl 0996.05054)] are obtained.
