In this very interesting paper, the author considers a class of differential inequalities of the form \[ \begin{aligned} | u'(t)+v(t)| ^2 \leq a(t)\varphi(u(t)), \quad \text{a.e. for } t&\in (0,+\infty),\\ v(t)\in \partial\varphi(u(t)), \quad \text{a.e. for } t&\in (0,+\infty),\\ a&\in L^1(0,\infty), \end{aligned} \] where \(\varphi:H\to \mathbb{R}\cup {+\infty}\) is a bounded from below l.s.c. convex function which has a minimum on the Hilbert space \(H\) and \(a\) is a nonnegative real-valued function. He proves that if \(\varphi\) is coercive and locally sub-homogeneous of degree \(p\geq 2\), with respect to the all points of the set of \(F\) of its minimizers, then solutions converge as \(t\to +\infty\) to their limit in \(F\) at rates which are exactly of exponential type if \(p=2\), and of algebraic type if \(p>2\). Several applications to nonlinear PDEs of parabolic type, including the two-phase Stefan problem in a bounded domain in \(\mathbb R^n\), are also discussed.
