Model categories, i.e. closed model categories in the sense of \textit{D. G. Quillen} [Homotopical algebra (Lecture Notes in Mathematics 43, Springer-Verlag, Berlin-Heidelberg-New York), (1967; Zbl 0168.20903)] are treated in many works (the present paper gives a good set of references). In the paper under review, the author gives a general theory of cosimplicial resolutions, homotopy spectral sequences and completions for objects in model categories. Providing a flexible approach, this work extends and unifies such theories for ordinary spaces based on unstable Adams spectral sequences and completion of spaces with respect to a ring or to a ring spectrum. Links with triples are also explained: completions having triple structures and triples giving resolutions.
