The paper presents a numerical method for solving the generalized airfoil equation, and is organized in 6 sections. Section 1 contains a presentation of the problem and a short description of the obtained results. In section 2 the authors give some notations, introduce the spaces where the airfoil equation is studied, and also give a result on the mapping properties of operators involved in the equation. The main results of this section concern some asymptotic properties of the solution. In section 3 some properties of de la Vallée Poussin interpolating operators are recalled (error estimates useful in the numerical method). Section 4 describes the numerical method. Here the authors construct a finite-dimensional equation and give error estimates. The numerical method uses a projection method based on the de la Vallée Poussin interpolation. The method leads to solution of a simple tridiagonal linear system. Section 5 contains several numerical examples, and the final section 6 gives all nececessary proofs.
