The goal of this paper is to obtain a global in time weak solution to the problem \[ \begin{gathered} u_{tt}- \Delta_x u(t,x)+ u_t(t,x)= |u(t,x)|^p,\;(t,x)\in (0,\infty)\times \mathbb{R}^N,\\ u(0,x)= u_0(x),\;u_t(0,x)= u_1(x),\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^N,\end{gathered} \] where \(p\in (1+{2\over N},{N\over N-2}]\) for \(N\geq 3\) or \(p\in (1+{2\over N}, \infty)\) for \(N= 1,2\). In contrast to the previous results, the authors proof of a global weak solutions is simpler, because they do not use the argument related to the finite propagation speed property.
