As the author himself says, this work is inspired by \textit{J. L. Lions}' work [Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 104, No. 1, 295--304 (1994; Zbl 0801.93006)] where it is investigated a similar question of hierarchical control employing the Stackelberg strategy in the case of time dependent domains. The author considers a one-dimensional wave equation in domains with moving boundary and this equation models the motion of a string where an endpoint is fixed and the other one is moving. A first result of the study is the existence and uniqueness of a Nash equilibrium, which differs from previous similar results in that they are proved for a nonlinear distributed parameter predator-prey system and a conceptual approximation algorithm is proposed and analyzed. Another important point of the study is the approximate controllability with respect to the leader control. This means that when the speed of the moving endpoint is less than the characteristic speed, it is established the controllability of this equation. In the last important point of the study, the author derived the optimality system for the leader control, starting from the primal or from the dual problem. For this, it is used the known duality argument due to Fenchel and Rockafellar.
