Let \(E\) be a prequantization bundle over a closed symplectic manifold \((M,\omega)\) with connection 1-form \(\alpha\). The paper is concerned with the existence of periodic orbits of the Reeb vector field \(R_\alpha\) on hypersurfaces that are graphs over the unit sphere bundle \(\Sigma\subset E\). For a smooth function \(f:\Sigma\to\mathbb{R}_{>0}\) the 1-form \(\alpha\) is a contact form on \(\Sigma_f=\{f(x)x:x\in\Sigma\}\). The Reeb flow associated to \(\alpha\) on \(\Sigma_f\) is equivalent to the Reeb flow of \(\alpha_f=f\alpha\) on \(\Sigma\). Setting \(c=\text{cuplength}(M;\mathbb{Z}/2)+1\), the main theorem states the existence of at least \(\frac{c}{2}\) periodic orbits of \(R_{\alpha_f}\) on \(\Sigma\), provided the following pinching condition is satisfied: \(R_2=\max f< \sqrt{2}\min f=\sqrt{2}R_1\). More precisely, there exist infinitely many simple periodic orbits of \(R_{\alpha_f}\) on \(\Sigma\), or there are \(c\) periodic orbits with different action integrals lying between \(\pi R_1^2\) and \(\pi R_2^2\). This is a generalization of a classical theorem of \textit{I. Ekeland} and \textit{J.-M. Lasry} [Ann. Math. (2) 112, 283--319 (1980; Zbl 0449.70014)] and closely related to a theorem of \textit{E. Kerman} [Compos. Math. 153, No. 11, 2394--2444 (2017; Zbl 1383.53063)].
